Salt of the Earth is a family-owned British natural deodorant brand, founded in 1993 and made in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire. We had a very local visitor recently: Liz Jarvis, the Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, came down to our HQ with her team to see how a Hampshire manufacturer actually runs.

Why did Liz Jarvis MP visit Salt of the Earth?
As the MP for Eastleigh, which covers Chandlers Ford, Liz Jarvis took an interest in a local manufacturer and employer on her doorstep. She chatted with the team, toured the HQ and warehouse, and saw our manufacturing line in action.
She also met our newest fragrance, Aloe & Lime, and got a peek at a few things we have in development. Those stay firmly under wraps for now, so you will get nothing more from us than a knowing smile.
What did Liz Jarvis say about Salt of the Earth in the House of Commons?
The visit followed a mention in Parliament. On 10 September 2026, during Business of the House, Liz Jarvis congratulated the business on winning The King's Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development 2026. She described us as a family-run business in her constituency that has gone from kitchen chemists to natural deodorant makers, now manufacturing from a 16,000 square foot facility.
On winning the award, our Managing Director and co-owner Thomas Laird said: "We're incredibly proud to receive the King's Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. It's a real honour and a testament to the hard work of our team and our long-standing commitment to doing business in a more sustainable way."
What is the King's Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development?
The King's Award for Enterprise is one of the UK's most prestigious business honours, granted in the name of the Sovereign. The Sustainable Development category recognises organisations whose products and operations show measurable environmental, social and economic progress over at least two years, assessed on evidence such as certifications, audits and supplier practices.
This is our second King's Award in two years. The first was the King's Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2025, presented at our Chandlers Ford factory on 14 October 2025, which recognised 137% international sales growth over three years and exports to 35 countries.
