World Ocean Day!

By Jade Dawes

World Ocean Day!
Every year, on June 8th, the world comes together to celebrate World Oceans Day—a global event dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of our oceans and promoting actions to protect and conserve these vast bodies of water.

Our oceans provide us with oxygen, food, and climate regulation, while also serving as a habitat for a diverse array of marine species. However, our oceans are facing numerous challenges, including pollution, over fishing, habitat destruction, and climate change. World Oceans Day aims to raise awareness about these issues and inspire individuals, communities, and organizations to take action to protect our oceans.

One crucial aspect of ocean conservation is reducing plastic waste. According to estimates, approximately 8 million metric tons of plastic end up in the oceans each year.

World Oceans Day serves as a call to action for individuals and organizations alike. In addition to choosing ocean-friendly products, there are several other ways you can make a positive impact on our oceans. These include reducing single-use plastic consumption, supporting organizations dedicated to marine conservation, participating in beach clean-ups, and spreading awareness about ocean issues through social media and community events.
