Backing the Solent Amazons: Why It Matters

Ice hockey might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of the south coast, but the Solent Amazons are changing that — and we’re chuffed to announce we’ve joined them as a Gold Sponsor for the 2025/26 season. Women’s sport deserves the limelight, and we’re delighted to help keep this brilliant team on the ice.

Why Ice Hockey?

Honestly? Because the Amazons are the real deal. They’re the only women’s ice hockey club in the region, opening doors for female athletes across Hampshire, Dorset, the Isle of Wight, Sussex and beyond. They’ve built one of the largest and loudest fanbases in British women’s ice hockey — all while operating as a pay-to-play club.

As Lauren from the Amazons told us: “Ice hockey is an incredibly expensive sport to play, especially for women. With rising rink costs and all the unseen expenses that come with running a club of our size, sponsorship like this keeps us on the ice.”

Women’s sport is having a moment — rightly so — but there’s still a long way to go, particularly in sports where costs can be a barrier. The Amazons aren’t just playing the game; they’re growing it. They compete in the Women’s National Ice Hockey League (WNIHL), run a second team (the Solent Valkyries) for development, and create pathways for junior and senior players to progress. That’s proper grassroots sport, and it deserves support.
