3 Sustainable Swaps to Help You Waste Less
By Smart Marketing

Living more sustainably can be difficult, as our modern, fast-paced lifestyles favour disposable, single-use items. Although practicing a sustainable lifestyle can be deemed expensive and impractical, there are many ways to make more eco-conscious choices which can be integrated into your daily routine.
Stop Buying Plastic Bottles
The average adult in the UK buys 150 plastic water bottles every year. With a significant percentage of these bottles ending up in landfill, single use plastic bottles are notoriously bad for the environment. Reusable stainless steel, glass and BPA-free plastic bottles are a great eco-friendly option as they are often affordable, convenient, and reduce your use of single-use plastic.
Other disposable drinks vessels such as plastic cups and takeaway coffee cups are also rarely recycled, and although they can be convenient, are costly to the environment and your wallet. Instead of buying a cup of coffee in a disposable cup, why not use a refillable stainless steel coffee cup? Many coffee shops offer discounts for customers who bring their own reusable cup, or to be even kinder to your budget, you could make yourself a coffee at home and bring it with you.
Ditch Plastic Bags
Since the government introduced the plastic bag charge in supermarkets in 2015, sales of single-use plastic carrier bags have dropped by more than 95% in England’s main supermarkets. Although this shows excellent progress, plastic bags are still seen as a necessity in many homes. If you are a serial plastic bag user, why not swap to something more sustainable?
