A revelation!
Having switched to another natural, non-antiperspirant deodorant brand about 18 months ago, I suddenly developed a sensitivity to this deodorant, causing severe under-arm rashes. Some reading revealed that this was actually quite common, and could be a reaction to the Magnesium Hydroxide that is used to nullify the odour-causing bacteria, or the essential oils often used to make the deodorant smell nice, or a combination thereof. After further reading, I came across Salt of the Earth's deodorant crystal, which uses a single ingredient - Potassium Alum natural mineral salt. It was inexpensive, so I decided to give it a try. There's no fragrance to the deodorant, and when putting it on, you swipe the wet crystal under your armpits to apply a coating of the mineral. I was a little sceptical as to how effective it would be, but to my pleasant surprise, it defeated the onset of BO armpits for a good 24 hours, and, just as important, has not further irritated my skin. This is now my go-to deodorant. I do miss the nice smell of a more conventional deodorant a little, but I am happy to forego that for arm pits that don't have painful skin rashes and don't smell of BO! Added bonus is the crystal sticks are quite compact, so good for travelling, inexpensive, and would seem like they will last for months, even with liberal swiping under both armpits once (or twice if I've been to the gym) a day.
